Join FSG x MCD and Document Journal to celebrate poet, filmmaker, and "life of the literary party" Caleb Femi's THE WICKEDEST, a chronicle of one unforgettable night at a legendary South London house party.

Atmospheric and intoxicating, lyrical and inviting, The Wickedest is a heady night in the dance, and Caleb Femi is the life of the literary party."
—Candice Carty-Williams, author of Queenie

Welcome to the Wickedest, the longest running house party in the South London shoob scene, always held at an undisclosed inner-city spot. You better hope you have the address: this is for locals only.

Sweaty and cinematic, pulsing with rhythm and heat, every moment here—from one-on-one intimacies to the swell of the party’s collective roar—is refracted in Caleb Femi’s writing. Ingeniously blending conversations, text messages, sonnets, vignettes, monologues, photos, and lyrics, The Wickedest is a modern epic, told as a minute-by-minute chronicle of an unforgettable night out.

Femi, a multi-hyphenate sensation and the author of Poor, which was called “a landmark debut for British poetry” by The Guardian, is a generational storyteller and scene setter. But The Wickedest does more than tell the story of one party; Femi uses the experience of nightlife to document the broader contexts surrounding the shoobs—the marginalization of low-income communities of color, the red tape that bars those on the edges from already shrinking communal space. Still, the party goes on. The Wickedest is a respite and a reckoning, a community of desire, care, and resistance that carries on long past the night’s end.

Caleb Femi is a writer, director, and photographer. He is the author of the poetry collection Poor, which won the 2021 Forward Prize, was short-listed for the Rathbones Folio Prize, and was named a best book of 2020 by many publications, including The GuardianFinancial TimesThe Observer, and the BBC. Femi has also directed TV episodes for HBO, the BBC, and Netflix, as well as commercials, high-fashion films, and runway shows for brands such as Louis Vuitton, TikTok, Bottega Veneta, and Dior. From 2016 to 2018 he served as Young People’s Laureate for London, where he lives.

rally's WRONG TURN TOUR stops by Mood Ring for a thunderous night of 160+bpm music from master selectors of jungle, juke, footwork, and breaks.

Albuquerque-based producer SlowRolla (@slowrolla) headlines for his NYC debut. His forward-thinking 160bpm sound has been featured in The Footwork Jungle and landed him on line-ups with The Glitch Mob and Anna Morgan. Expect a genre-bridging set that bounces from footwork and techno to jungle and breaks from one of the U.S.'s rising electronic champions.

Joining us from Baltimore are minced curators Pouty's Rage (@poutysrage) and PMMAIRE (@pmmaire). These speed demons throw Baltimore's premiere 160bpm event and have shared bills with artists like Babypufff, Jialing, and Moveltraxx's Mars Kasei. You may hear some Baltimore club, but the real draw is Pouty's Rage's specialty jungle tekno and PMMAIRE's NYC debut of her high-octane electro rumblers.

Local heavy hitters, BBYGRL and our resident DJ amita round up our line-up. Brooklyn-via-Albuquerque DJ BBYGRL (@pizzaqueenhaley) specializes in ghetto tech, jersey, and footwork styles with odes to her love for 80's and 90's Hip Hop & RnB.

Since making their debut at rally in June amita (@amitamarsanto) has quickly taken Brooklyn by storm with their fast and bassy sound. Splitting time between Tokyo and NYC, amita curates sets that are just as well traveled and connect footwork, jungle, and 160bpm scenes locally and abroad.

Open minds and brisk moves welcome. LET ME SEE YOU WORK! Don't make a wrong turn...
